Laura's Story:

Growing up in Chagrin Valley, Ohio, horse country, I began my horse life riding ponies. My days were later filled with competing on horses, managing a polo string in high school, and mock fox hunting on the side.

Since then, I have spent decades immersing myself into studying and working with horses, and have had the opportunity to work with some of the finest horse-centered clinicians in the business.

Along the way, I discovered the importance of  posture and that out-of-balance horses had behavioral issues. It also became apparent that those behavioral issues and restrictions in the body drove performance.

“Animals were once, for all of us, teachers. They instructed us in ways of being and perceiving that extended our imaginations, that were models for additional possibilities.” – Joan McInty

I have made it my life’s work to understand the psychology of training horses, closely integrating this with the uniqueness of equine anatomy and physiology; meshed with the human perspective.

These concepts laid the foundation for the co-creation of Wholistic Equine Center in Whitefish. While there I developed the Kids In Connection® program, primarily using our seven Icelandic horses for kids so that they could learn to ride well on appropriately sized horses, where they could feel safe.

I resonate with both horse and student that feel fear when they don’t understand, and are not met with creative solutions.

Horses and humans need to feel safe to learn.

It is my job as an educator to make sure that my students, both horse and human, understand.

“Laura meets you where both you and your horse are at. She is fun and creative.”  – J. Hintz

Horse and rider learn best when the environment is calm and safe, both physically emotionally. I’ve spent a lifetime learning how to create this atmosphere where you and your horse can thrive, where you both can find success.

I hope to help you connect with your horse at a level you’ve never experienced before.
